Pottery Care and Baking Tips

  • Glazed stoneware pottery is a natural non-stick surface so no cooking spray is needed. (When baking brownies, cakes or cornbread; a small amount of butter or oil spread with fingers or paper towel just where batter will go is recommended)

  • Pottery is a great material for baking. Unlike metal or glass, cooking spray is not needed in pottery. That means no yucky black sticky stuff that never gets clean!

  • Pottery heats up slowly and then holds heat well, resulting in food that cooks evenly from outside to center- which means no burnt black edges.

  • It is important to allow pottery to change temperature slowly. Do not put into a pre-heated oven. Instead put pottery in a cold oven and add on pre-heat time to recipe's recommended baking time.

  • Do not place hot pottery on granite(or other stone counter top) or directly into cold water.

  • My pottery is all coated with glaze and there is no need to soak the baker in water before cooking in them
