Pottery Care and Baking Tips
Glazed stoneware pottery is a natural non-stick surface so no cooking spray is needed. (When baking brownies, cakes or cornbread; a small amount of butter or oil spread with fingers or paper towel just where batter will go is recommended)
Pottery is a great material for baking. Unlike metal or glass, cooking spray is not needed in pottery. That means no yucky black sticky stuff that never gets clean!
Pottery heats up slowly and then holds heat well, resulting in food that cooks evenly from outside to center- which means no burnt black edges.
It is important to allow pottery to change temperature slowly. Do not put into a pre-heated oven. Instead put pottery in a cold oven and add on pre-heat time to recipe's recommended baking time.
Do not place hot pottery on granite(or other stone counter top) or directly into cold water.
